How to Benefit from
Traffic Exchanges: Things to
Look For ... Besides Traffic
-
The
main idea behind traffic exchanges is to provide traffic.
Members
can get traffic by either viewing other members' websites or purchasing
traffic credits.
However, there are many other features of traffic exchanges that are
important but often overlooked. Here, I would like to talk
about
these other features.
-
List-Building
Some (but not all) traffic exchanges are
excellent
list-builders. Some exchanges offer downline mailers, which
you
can use to send messages to all your downline members at the same time.
And since it is relatively easy to reruit new
members to
traffic exchanges, you can build a nice responsive list this way.
Among all exchanges, WebBizInsider
stands out as an excellent
list-builder. Free members can send messages to their
first-level
downline members and upgraded members can send messages 6 levels down
once a week. In addition, upgraded members get 5 new downline members
automatically every month. And if you
really want to
build your list fast, you can buy downline member packages, which are
offered by the program.
-
Credits from Referrals
I like using traffic exchanges, which are
generous in
giving you credits for referrals. You can get referral
credits two ways.
One, is the initial referral bonus. For example,
WebBizInsider gives you 100 credits for each new member.
Second,
you get credits when your downline surfs. 10khits4unow
gives you
credits 5 levels down if you are a free member and 10 levels down if
you are an upgraded member.
-
Banners and Text Links
Most exchanges allow members to post banners and
text
links. Do not ignore these. Their effectiveness
varies
depending on how appealing their message is. It also depends
on the
traffic exchange. In some of them they are simply more
visible.
Always post at least two different banners and two different
links and compare their click-through rates. Then change the
one
that performs worse. S.W.A.T.
Traffic
offers customizable splash
pages, where members can add their picture, a banner of choice and a
text link. To see the splash page Click

This page
allow you to promote yourself (branding), recruit members to S.W.A.T.
Traffic and advertise another two programs/products of your choice.
-
Other Types of Advertising
Top
Surfer
is the ultimate example of an
advertising program, which offers so much more than just a
traffic
exchange. I highly recommend using Top Surfer's solo
ads,
newsletter ads, and the bribe. They are all effective.
In
fact, I don't care so much for the traffic exchange offered by Top
Surfer, but I am an upgraded member because I really enjoy it's other
features.
-
Extra Income
Some traffic exchanges offer very good affiliate
programs, with good commissions. You are not likely to get
rich
by promoting traffic exchanges, but if you promote the right ones, you
can at least cover some of your advertising expenses.
From my experience, I recommend Traffic
Splash
and Max
Traffic Pro.
These programs are great to promote. It's a great
way to accumulate
credits, build a contact list, and get commissions! If you
are an
upgraded member, you get 50% commissions and high percentage of people
(relative to other exchanges) upgrade and/or purchase credits,
particularly in Traffic Splash. During the last month, I
earned
over $100 in commissions with Traffic Splash (I have a little over 60
members in my downline now). In Traffic Splash, 11%
of my downline members are either upgraded or purchase credits.
In Max Traffic Pro, 12% of my downline members upgrade.
-
Ability to Transfer Credits to
Your Downline
This is another great feature in some exchanges. It's
a nice gesture to transfer some credits to new members as a thank you
for joining. This helps building a relationship with your
downline members. You can also use it as a bribe.
You can offer credits as a reward for surfing, upgrading,
joining other programs, etc. Both Traffic Splash and Max
Traffic Pro have this feature.
-
Forums and Ability to Network
Forums are a great way to promote yourself and
advertise by using a signature. The key is to post regularly
and provide useful information. ILoveHits
has a great forum, where you can also learn from other members.
StartXchange
has a unique feature, which allow members to join a certain team and
interact with other members of the team using an internal messaging
system.
Great Resources for Traffic Exchange Users
- Use Traffic Hoopla to Check How
Traffic Exchanges Perform and to Build Downlines
Traffic
Hoopla is a great resource. It provides constantly
updated performance reports on traffic exchanges. It's much
better to surf those exchanges, which are ranked high by Traffic
Hoopla. Traffic Hoopla is also an excellent downline builder
for traffic exchanges and safelists.
-
Do not Upgrade in Traffic
Exchanges Before You See This Offer
Michael Cobb has created an
excellent free program Home-Income-Team
(HIT).
It's a downline builder, which offers a free website builder,
excellent training, and a great income opportunity (you earn 50%
commissions when your referrals purchase featured products). HIT now
offers an amazing one-time offer, which includes upgrades in twelve top
traffic exchanges for a ridiculous price.

Must Have
Resources ...
- Domain Name
Get your own web address and another income stream with GDI
(Global Domain International).
It is one of the fastest growing
companies in the US. It offers a 7-day free trial.
- Hosting
When
you choose a hosting company, make sure it's a highly reliable business
with an established reputation. I recommend Kiosk,
which offers a high-end hosting, excellent training, including live
HTML lessons, and a 24-hour support. For example, List
Dot Com
is hosted by Kiosk.
Why do you need a hosting service?
From a traffic exchange user perspective, you need your own webspace to
host your splash/squeeze/lead-capture pages. Promoting
affiliate pages doesn't work. You have to come up with your own
unique page. I recommend ordering splash pages from professional
companies unless you have great graphic design skills.
To
your success! Hope you found this useful. As
usual, all comments are welcome. Please post them on my blog.
